New Jersey Performing Arts Center's own D.J. sHaKe is tapped for disk jockey duties -- at the free Word Jam youth poetry event -- to start off the Alternate Routes Hip-Hop Festival on April 1st. Below is a closer look at the man behind the audience at NJPAC.
Drawing on the inspiration of legendary DJ's like Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, and Marley Marl, sHaKe has tapped into the inner B-Boy/B-Girl of music lovers in the metropolitan area. This Jersey City native has hooked those seeking a resurgence of Hip-Hops Golden Era by providing a soundscape of classics intertwined with R&B, soul and breakbeats. Check out sHaKes monthly residency, Hip-Hop Treats, on the first Saturday of every month at Heathers in NYC.
